Time categories are typically the means of tracking time for individuals.
Jarrison Time will have existing time categories in place, included in the Startup database during installation. Any additional time categories required can be created from the Time Categories configuration window. Click on ‘Setup’ then ‘Time Category’ from the menu bar to manage the time categories. JT has no limit to the number of time categories.
Time Categories are normally considered as being time format, although they may be represented as decimal from the right-click option in Daily Details or Daily Summary, or via the formatting options of reports or exports. However this does not allow the field to be manipulated as decimal in formulas e.g. if rates need to be calculated. If this is required, tick the ‘Is Decimal’ option and the category itself will be decimal, and will no longer be representable as a time format. Note that all user computers must be set to the same decimal symbol in Windows Regional settings.
If the category will be used to keep a cumulative total, ‘Is Running Total’ should be selected to prevent excessive period totals. This option would typically be used in conjunction with the ‘Previous Day’ options on the Day Program Rules tab.
Categories may also be ‘Set default as 'Allow auto break deduction' for allocations’. If ticked then each time the time category is added in the Allocations tabl(explained later), the ‘Allow Auto Breaks to deduct’ from this time category option will be selected (it can always be de-selected later).
A JT standard is applied to this screen and most configuration windows throughout JT. Each window contains one default entry, which cannot be deleted. The default Time Category is Normal Time,
indicated by the word ‘Default’ to the right of the text box. You can include any Time Category in the Annual Overview, shown in the User manual, by selecting the ‘Use in Overview’ option.
The Job Costing Ratio is intended for use with job costing time categories that may need to be calculated at a rate other than 1x.
The ‘Copy to Counter’ button can be used to create a Counter named like the selected Time Category.
